Ride the Mountain Wave: Winter Forecast to Keep Your #StokeLevel High

Coop

Welcome back to Coop’s Corner, friends! Let's break down the dynamic weather that's rolling in this week. Snow levels, totals, and conditions are about to flex in ways that boggle the mind. The first round of precip is going in hard - #GorillaSnot, #BaseBuilding, and seriously the #WetNasty—while rounds two and three will deliver that next-level magic, #RickJamesPow and #CheeryCheeryPow. Whether you’re ripping on-piste or venturing off-piste in the mountains, the #StokeLevel is always high. Let’s dive into what’s ahead for Dodge Ridge, China Peak, Bear Valley, and Mountain High.

Dodge Ridge: Carving Through Changing Conditions

At Dodge Ridge, we’re in for a wild ride. The first system is already in motion, delivering light rain and snow showers early this morning at higher elevations. Expect a modest 4–8 inches on the upper mountain—and possibly even a couple of feet on the very highest areas—before the warming trend takes hold this afternoon.

What’s Next:

  • Storm 2 (Monday–Tuesday): Picture riding into a powerful wave. This colder system will start the action after about 10 am on Monday. As night falls, the weather really charges in, building heavy snowfall overnight into Tuesday. Mountain areas above 6,500 feet could see 3–4 feet of fresh #MaNatural—a call for careful planning whether you’re on-piste or off-piste.

  • Storm 3 (Wednesday–Friday): Later in the week, an even colder system will push snow levels further down. While lower mountain areas might pick up only a light dusting, expect another 4–5 feet on the upper terrain as the system unfolds.

Wind Alert: Gusty southerly winds will be active throughout—imagine winds pushing 25–30 mph on the higher mountain, adding an extra dose of challenge to these evolving conditions. Stay mindful and be ready to adjust your plans as the day unfolds.

China Peak: A Dance with the Elements

At China Peak, the weather is shifting like a well-executed ride. Early Saturday will bring a light accumulation of 2–4 inches in the morning, setting a calm stage before the rain steps in. But get ready—Storm 2 is the real game-changer.

The Big Set:

  • Monday Night into Tuesday: This is where things really get amped. Heavy snowfall is forecast to hit between Monday night and Tuesday, with the bulk of the action coming from 4–8 inches during Monday night and 10–16 inches on Tuesday. That totals roughly 14–24 inches of fresh #MaNatural as the deepening cold lowers the snow level and transforms the high mountain into a winter wonderland.

  • Storm 3 (Tuesday Night–Wednesday): Following that, intermittent bursts of heavy snow will continue, though overall, additional totals will be more of a bonus than the main act.

Wind Alert: Breezy conditions will roll in with winds around 15–20 mph, ramping up to 30–35 mph during the heavy phases. It’s a dynamic, ever-changing scene that’s as exciting as it is challenging.

Bear Valley: A Changing Lineup

Bear Valley’s forecast is all about transformation. Saturday starts off gentle—a light dusting of less than one inch that sets the stage for a calm mountain morning. But midweek, things really pick up.

What’s Coming:

  • Storm 2 (Monday–Tuesday): Think of it as a powerful set that builds momentum overnight. Monday night, expect a rapid buildup of 9–13 inches, followed by another 10–16 inches on Tuesday as heavy, blowing snow takes hold. This system is intense and demands respect and careful planning if you’re venturing off-piste or riding on-piste in the mountains.

  • Storm 3 (Wednesday–Friday): A third, gentler system will follow, adding a light touch of extra accumulation as the week winds down.

Wind Alert: Brisk southerly winds will be in play—starting around 14–16 mph early in the week and climbing to 30–40 mph during the peak of Storm 2. These gusts remind us of nature’s raw power, so always stay prepared and ride safely.

Mountain High: A Refreshing Break

Down at Mountain High, the forecast is surprisingly mellow—a welcome break from the heavier systems up north. Over the weekend, expect clear skies and warm, sunny days with highs in the 60s, giving you a taste of near-spring vibes in the mountains.

The Lowdown:

  • Saturday through Monday: Enjoy dry and inviting conditions that are perfect for soaking in the fresh mountain air and planning your next on-piste adventure.

  • Tuesday Onward: There’s a slight chance for a brief dusting (0–1 inch) on Tuesday morning, but that will quickly give way to rain and an isolated chance for a snow shower after dark. Overall, the weather remains mild and pleasant—ideal for keeping your #StokeLevel high.

Wind Alert: Breezy conditions are expected on Tuesday and Wednesday, with winds around 15–20 mph. For most of the weekend, you can count on gentle breezes that keep everything balanced and enjoyable.
