Buenos dìas, my friends
Cup'O'Joe in hand, winds blow'n, here at the #HippieHaus; Gusts S/SW 88+ across the Crest, the system is moving quickly, and by the KDAX radar looks to be side-slipping the West Slope into the BV/DR zones as I type. China Peak is on the far end of the front; snow started just a little bit ago. There is not a lot of snow accumulation with this front; 4-6” is what I am tracking. Wind speeds look to push this through quickly. NWS forecasters this morning have stood fast at much higher snow totals, 8”+ over the next 24 hours.
Gear up for today; snow will be a mix today; it's certainly not #ColdSmokePow, but up top (above 8k), it'll be #CreamyPow, with a wetter consistency below 7,000ft. Mtn teams across our resorts are out all night, grooming and getting the mountain prepped for the opening bell at 9a. Layer up and bring out the GoreTex® - It's wet; however, it's #BaseBuilding, and we are #Stoked to see the mountain start to fill in over the past week.
Note to self: Level set your expectations today; winds may affect upper-mtn operations as the ridge-top winds are quite high.
Gear: Wax it with the snow and snow consistency; it's time to get your gear into the shop for a fresh wax, Hydro-carbon, all-temp, with a splash of red and blue... That'll keep you sliding in style for sure my friends...
