Cali Pass Weather, December 2, 2024

Evening, my friends

After an early showing of her might across the West Coast from the PNW all the down through CenCal and China Peak, MotherNature deposited a solid set of early season numbers at our NorCal resorts, China Peak, Bear Valley, and Dodge Ridge, getting our resorts open. The bull-wheels are spinning, and we’ve officially kicked-off the 24/25 PowHunt’n season here!

However, and a caveat insert, that was one gnarly nailbiter of a storm system… On the up, China Peak received 24” to 36”, with Bear Valley receiving 12” to 18”, and Dodge Ridge with a solid 12” to 15” as the AR ejected eastward. I was #Stoked to be able to get over to both Bear Valley and Dodge Ridge over the weekend and be able to report back; yep, it was a solid opening at both. China Peak also flipped the switch to open, and those that got out had a ripping time on the Mtn, enjoying some sweet, early-season pow!

Euro model 6hr precipitation - Long Range out through Dec 8, 2024 Now, lets switch gears and look out to the long-range forecasts.

NorCal Tribe:

As I type, we are in a lull with the storm door temporarily closed in what is called a Rex block pattern (a high pressure) that has built-in across the Intermountain West. That being said, the weather over Northern California will continue to remain dry with light winds and above-normal daytime highs; overnight temperatures will flex, so our Mtn Ops teams will have some solid windows of opportunity to refill and refresh our terrain at China Peak, and Bear Valley and our Mtn Team at Dodge Ridge will focus on keeping Lower Stage Coach in action as we keep our eyes on the skies for the next inbound round of #MotherNaturesNatural.

SoCal Tribe:

For the Mtn High family, we are in the midst of a weather hold expected to last through this week. The Mtn team will continue to get out and refill and refresh at every opportunity. At the same time, we wait for #MotherNature to turn back on the spigot and deliver a fresh holiday round of #MotherNaturesNatural and a white Christmas on the Mtn.

GFS Ens [M] MSLP Anomaly - High-Pressure Ridge Across West Coast Now, what do we do, Coop?

Great question, and fairly easy to answer; keep your #StokeLevelHigh, train, get’yr gear tuned, update those old boots, get yourself a new deck or set of sticks (Head KORE 99 maybe), go surf, skate, or ride, just get out and get’cha-some, its early season, and we are already ahead of the curve. #WintersComing and I hope you stay tuned and thirsty for POW and work on at the least 50days on your CaliPass!
